Over the past few months, many of the largest tech companies in the world (Meta, Google, Amazon, Netflix and more) have been laying off tens of thousands of their workforce, causing a lot of stir in the media around the health of the economy. Is this an indicator of a recession? Are other industries next? What will happen next?
