What Do Inflation and Interest Rate Shifts Mean for the Market?
Welcome to the latest edition of Market Commentary with RFG Advisory’s Chief Investment Officer, Rick Wedell.
The S&P 500 has rallied over the past few trading days, posting a 2.8% gain year-to-date as recent inflation data came in slightly better than anticipated. Additionally, the anticipated wave of tariffs and trade protections expected early in the new administration appears to have been pushed back a bit. Both of these factors have lowered the market’s expectations for interest rates.
In this week’s Market Commentary, Rick discusses how these evolving dynamics could accelerate the Federal Reserve’s return to a rate-lowering trajectory.
