Open Opportunities

Director, Capital Solutions

RFG Headquarters · Full-time · Senior

About The Position

RFG Advisory is an innovator in the wealth management industry, partnering with independent financial Advisors across the country and backed by leading private equity investors. The firm is focused on aggressive, disciplined growth through a combination of organic initiatives and strategic acquisitions, and is building a best-in-class corporate development and capital solutions function to support that journey.

The Director, Capital Solutions is a high-visibility, high-expectation role for someone with investment banking, private equity, or corporate development training who can generate and execute strategic transactions as part of RFG's Capital Solutions program. You will own three core areas: sourcing minority investments and tuck-in acquisitions, executing deals from term sheet to close, and serving as the primary Capital Solutions expert for the business development team. The ideal candidate is exceptional at financial modeling and presentation-building, has flawless verbal and written skills, and is comfortable leading senior-level discussions with Advisors with limited supervision.

Location: This role can be in our Birmingham office or remote.

  • If in Birmingham, AL, our office works a hybrid schedule (3 days in-office, 2 remote).
  • If remote, occasional travel to Birmingham will be required including onboarding.

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

What You'll Do

Deal Origination & Market Development

  • Build and own a proprietary sourcing engine for tuck-in acquisitions within RFG's existing Advisor base, systematically identifying, prioritizing, and engaging Advisors who are candidates to sell, merge, or consolidate their practices.
  • Coordinate with the business development team to develop a structured pipeline for minority and majority investment opportunities, including target identification, outreach cadence, CRM tracking, and conversion analytics.
  • Cultivate relationships with Advisors, investment bankers, custodians, recruiters, and industry intermediaries to generate proprietary, off-market deal flow.
  • Conduct ongoing market mapping of the independent Advisor landscape to surface actionable acquisition and capital solutions opportunities.

Deal Execution

  • Partner with leadership, finance, and business development teams to structure and advance Capital Solutions opportunities for Advisors in the recruiting pipeline.
  • Build and maintain transaction models including DCF, accretion/dilution, and returns analysis for potential acquisitions, capital investments, and Advisor deals.
  • Analyze target firms' financials, client bases, and business models to support valuation, structuring, and risk assessment.
  • Assist with deal structuring across earn-outs, seller notes, equity structures, and revenue shares, and support transaction execution from term sheet to definitive legal documentation.
  • Prepare IC-style memos, deal summaries, and supporting exhibits for internal and external stakeholders.

Sales Enablement

  • Present the RFG Capital Solutions value proposition credibly to Advisor teams, articulating our programs and the broader RFG story with conviction and gravitas.
  • Build Advisor-level pro-forma models that show economics under RFG's platform versus an Advisor's current economics, and translate deal terms into clear, intuitive financial outputs Advisors can understand.
  • Create and refine pitch materials and presentation decks that combine numbers, narrative, and visuals into a compelling Capital Solutions and RFG story.
  • Partner with the business development team to continuously improve templates, assumptions, and messaging using AI-based automation techniques.

Requirements

Experience

  • 5-10 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or consulting.
  • At least 2-4 years of experience in a similar role at an acquisitive wealth management firm or broker-dealer actively pursuing M&A, minority investments, or Advisor consolidation; required and non-negotiable.
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing high-quality investment and M&A opportunities.
  • Proven track record building detailed models to support minority investments or M&A.
  • Experience generating management or IC-style presentations for senior internal and external stakeholders.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of corporate finance, valuation, and complex investment and M&A transaction structures, and the execution process from term sheet to closing.
  • Confident, professional communicator able to sell RFG's capital solutions programs and the broader RFG story to financial Advisors with credibility and gravitas.
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills; able to write clear memos, crisp email updates, and concise commentary for senior executives.
  • High ownership mentality; treats the firm's resources and investments with individual responsibility and accountability for outcomes.
  • Eager to proactively network, attend industry events, and identify opportunities rather than waiting for deals to come to you.
  • Able to turn around complex work products quickly without sacrificing accuracy or quality.
  • Highly organized, reliable, and comfortable managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Deeply curious about new concepts and technologies, including AI, that can enhance corporate development processes.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and evolving priorities in a fast-paced, PE-backed environment.

Technology & Tools

  • Outstanding Excel skills including fully-linked 3-statement models, sensitivity and scenario analysis, debt schedules, waterfalls, and returns analysis.
  • PowerPoint power user; able to create clean, executive-ready decks with strong structure and visuals.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools including Claude, ChatGPT, or Microsoft Copilot to build financial models, design processes, and conduct data analysis.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • CFA (Level I, II, or III), MBA, or CA designation is a strong plus.
